1. As I said just before the new blog, AV = the reign of stupidity goes on for another three years...thanks Mike

2. Thanks!

3. If there are no better deals to be had out there, I'd take Vinny for sure. He played well last year! But because of the extra $2 million on the cap, I'd make sure we got their other first rounder (Detroit).

What about Malone, Ohlund, and a third asset for Lu and Ballard?

Lighting get a healthy dman they can actually use in Ballard, clear themselves of Ohlund contract and Malone.

Canucks get power-forward, buy-out Ohlund and let him retire a Canuck, and a third asset. Scheinder is your starter, Lu gets free reign in Tampa for forseeable future.

At least the ground-work for a deal, no>?

Ian you forgot a couple of things. Bringing in Vinny might seem like a small cap increase of 2M of what not, but you forgot that we need to resign Schneider, who will be asking for 3.5 to 4M. And since Lack is not NHL ready, we need to sign an experienced backup, which will cost maybe 2M or whatever. All and all, adding Vinny, resigning Schneider and bringing in a veteran backup will cost around 6 to 7M more than our cap hit last year.

No team wants to take Lu's contract without sending us one back. I would actually rather take Komo. At least he provides something we don't have, a heavy weight physical defenseman. Or if we have to bury his contract in the minors, it would be easier to do so.

Intereting idea, but still not gonna happen. Lecavalier is valued, not just to the team, but the city as well. Malone is not a cap throw away, please stop acting like we're gonna fall for that one. If he remained healthy he would have 60 pts at 4.5 a year is good and what he bring the ice is worth it.

The only way I would want Vinny if something like this was to occur

Lu for Vinny

Then Vinny ,Booth to MTL for Pacioretty

9 million in space + say, 3 million that the cap goes up- 2.4 for Vinnie + around 9.5 million in space.

I think you can get a backup for around a million, Schneider for around 4 mil and that leaves a few million for a D and the 4th line.

I honestly think Vinny would dominate with the twins. I just hate the contract. He's obviously lost a few steps but that wouldn't matter playing with the Sedins.

Luongo has more value than Vinny. Goalies last longer and Lecavalier has regressed a lot. He's now a 20 goal scorer making over 7 million.

His contract is too big.

Cue some original comedic genius saying "That's what she said."

EDIT: Also, if a Lou for Vinny deal would go down I say Tampa would have to give up more than what they do in your offer.

So does Lu.

You cant move him without getting something comparable in return.

I mean, if your gonna go cap hit for cap hit and term for term with a team that needs a goalie, why not just get Nash?

Keeping our problem child is probably better than taking on TBs problem child.

First of all , you said Van has 9 mil in space. Last years roster had 27 players on it this years has 17. Nine mil spread out on 5 to 10 players is not going to do a lot.

Second, there are reports of the Cap going up to 68 mil plus the players part of which I am not sure what it is, will bring it up to 72 mil.Teams may be build on the cap hit of 72 mil and then the new CBA kicks in and reports of 55 mil will be next years cap.Teams will have to do some serious reducing if that happens.

With the uncertainty of the cap space available, a team should only take a 7 mil player if they are certain he will help the team.

BTW .Ballard Manny and Alberts will not play next year there is another 8 mil freed up.

I think everybody but nuck fans have been sayin from the start this is the type of deal ull get for lu.

If u take back another brutal contract, ull probably get the extra asset(s) u hope for too.
Otherwise, itll be a straight dump for nothin pretty much. In that case the dump IS the value u get in return.

Zero chance mtl moves pacioretty.

Pretty sure mtl isnt interested in another brutal contract in vinny either.
Unless you're willing to deal Lu for vinny.

Are teams allowed to trade soon as the playoffs are over or is it draft day they can start trading again?

Trades have happened during the playoffs before but i think they were just minor leaguers. still, it has always confused this question for me...

edit:

edit 2: http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=2

edit 3: if you take back Gomez, Kaberlol, and Bourque and throw in your 1st, Montreal would do this deal.

I think you'll be shocked. Yes, there will be a bad contract coming back but Lu will also net the bucks a good prospect/1st rounder at the very least.

I saw somewhere that you can deal as soon as you're out.

I guessing no one does it because your market is a bit limited and the league likely doesn't want blockbusters to go down while they are trying to still sell the playoffs/awards.

I would imagine a Lu for Vinnie deal would get more talk then a 2-1 devils/kings game.
